Strategies for the Evaluation and Assessment Of Ocean based Carbon Dioxide Removal (SEAO2-CDR) is an ambitious project that develop OCDR beyond current feasibility studies by establishing the mechanisms and frameworks required to support the evaluation and application of archetypal biological, chemical and physical OCDR techniques. Common assessment processes, governance structures and technologies are used to explore system-level interactions between different approaches in order to deliver the insights, tools and guidelines required for the safe and effective implementation of OCDR. These advancements enable SEAO2-CDR to establish the extent to which OCDR can support climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies, and hence the transition to a climate-neutral and resilient society and economy.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 101081362
